Guided By Light In The Darkness

I trembled in fear, as the wolves howled,
I knew that dangers lurked everywhere  ~
guided by the moon - I whispered, "I forgive you."

My favourite got bronze. Well, it's all about the judge's personal taste, after all. But I would have given you gold.

    Congrats anyway!

Now THIS entry, I really like! I mean, I personally like the sound of howling wolves, but I can understand why, in this situation, it would be cause for anxiety. I love the ending. It adds this whole other element to the story of the poem. Who is she speaking to? What is she forgiving? Is this thing the reason why she's outside alone at night? Or is it just something that the lonely, scary atmosphere is making her think back on? Perhaps she just ran away from an abusive situation, yet, even though she is scared and alone, she's already found the forgiveness in her heart, even as she's running away.

The story could be taken in many different directions! It's the kind of poem that really makes you think, and want to know more. The fact that it is also grammatically correct, even to the point of being prose-like, is a big plus to me as well.

In short, I love it. GREAT job! Best wishes in the contest!
