Tell Me...Do You Like My Face?

Tell me do you like my face,
I painted it on the blank porcelain that is me.
Don’t I look happy?
Can you tell I’m really drowning in the shallows?
The shallow water of this life.

This life,
Where the white smiles,
And rosy cheeks get what they want,
Whilst those who don’t belong
Carve themselves to pretend they do,
What’s wrong with changing this, that?
It’s nothing major, I’m still me…Aren’t I?
They all ask,
Hoping for the acceptance they so crave,

Would you lose yourself?
To become what you’ve always wanted to be
But never were.
Will you lose what makes you unique,
To join the Barbie’s and kens?
The imagined figures of perfection
That are forced upon us all.

Will you starve your body while your soul screams for you to,
STOP!
Just so you can join the club,
Join the club for the little girls,
Who weigh exactly what they should,
Just so long as you add together what they all weigh.

Can I tell you a secret?
About the ugly person you see in the mirror,
They are real!
They are different!
They are perfect!

What did you think?
