Two's Company

We’re on our way to God knows where
as folly tags along
to reap the winds of “I don’t care”
and sing his silly song…..

Chickens are rolling, chickens are rolling
Chickens are rolling on
Chickens to the right side, chickens to the left side
Chickens down middle
Following me along

There will be some who bade us pause
as cautious men might do
to slow our pace, obey the laws
and mind our P’s and Q’s

Our wisdom’s child though not yet grown
is far beyond his years
but from the nest he has not flown
too loath to face his fears

So on this course we travel here
where prudence can’t insure
a single day without a tear
nor true love can procure
