Late Coming Muse

Where were you hiding, my delightful muse?
Why for decades did silence you choose?
No poetic verse flowed off my pen,
No rhyming words at sentence end.
Now streams have voices of melodious song,
And faces to flowers do often belong.
Sky’s turn cerulean, not simply blue
Word pictures are painted with artists’ hue.
I rush through the day, waiting for night,
When the winds of spirit take mind to flight.
Painting of moments into grandiose scenes,
Each little detail from your whispers I glean.
You’ve captured me hopelessly, I’ve become obsessed
With this crafting of words, I must honestly confess.
So please don’t leave me, now that you’ve come.
You enlivened my spirit, don’t let me grow numb.
Let your voice be heard as I listen for you,
My enchanting, delightful, and late coming muse.

This is wonderful!! I haven't been writing all that long myself and I can clearly recall when the door opened for me, I was terrified it would slam shut again. Thank's for the beautiful entry.

Truely a magical touch. Wish it was I who was written this
I Love the story and how it made me looking for the next
twist. Great insight filled with passion.

    Very Enjoyable!

I recognize this... It's your gift of, and passion for writing and poetry! You speak of how it showed up later in your life, and of the many hours of enjoyment it has surely given to you in allowing you this outlet of passionate, heart-felt expression.

It is a wonderful thing that you have also chosen to communicate and share your Late Coming Muse here, so that we may all enjoy your gift too.

I expect that it will never leave you, but rather, will visit you more and more frequently as you court and entertain this wonderful gift within you.
