True friendship can survive
Through any trial
So were we really friends?
Or was that just a season?
Was what happened really worth
Throwing it all away?
Isn't there forgiveness?
Forgetting is true forgiveness
Move on, learn from mistakes
Put the past where it belongs
My broken heart has
Long since healed
Is this silent treatment
Stemmed from your own awkwardness?
Would it be better if i vanished?
Disappear without a trace?
Perhaps i should turn back time
Stop us from ever meeting
Save us the pain that comes
From this separation
But I've learned so much
Just from knowing you
You strengthened and challenged me
Pushing me to be a better man
Maybe not for you in the end
But for another to benefit
I can't just forget the gift
That came from your friendship
But if we are to part
Know you hold a special place in my heart
What did you think

I like the questions you ask in this poem. Sometimes friends slip away and we question whether they were really true friends in the first place. Sometimes we just grow up, and though we wish we could keep the friendship, you're both two different people now. I can see the pain and emotion in this write. Nice job!
Stemmed from your own awkwardness?
Love that line. -

I think I missed your comment on this before. So, thank you! I just read it again for the first time in months and it nearly brought me back to tears over the situation. Sometimes I still wish she'd talk to me again. I really miss her friendship. Thank you for your comment!
