White Diamonds

From the shiver of near winter
the leaves do hang no more
As they tried to shake off cold
knowing what was soon in store

As the sun sets in the west
a death unto itself
Brings a blanket to the earth
of white diamonds, but not wealth

In the glowing of the ashes
by the fire nice and warm
through a window of white panes
I sit pondering the storm

Consumption now the days
what were nurtured long ago
As the seasons slowly tap away
on now frozen banks of snow

That is an interesting poem...I like how some of the lines are mysterious and make one wonder what they mean (the last 4 lines)...perhaps it means how in winter the snow looks like diamonds, but doesn't bring wealth...because winter is the time of spending/using up of what was prepared for winter: because things don't grow during winter...I hope what I'm saying makes sense...I'm very tired...

    Anyways, great poem...

You've been having some pretty good heat waves down there, but things
      will cool eventually.

Actually the snow itself has little value. There may be some money made
in ski and snowmobile but I'm pretty sure more is spent in the removal of it that is gained. The real value comes after the "conversion" back , then almost everything benefits by it, much like a human giving up their artificial needs for the those real ones needed don't you think...
