My essay's due and I feel fine
'pon empty pages I shall dine
and as that wind goes rushing by
I poke my future in the eye.
And time will pass, it matters not
for education's just a plot,
to keep my mind on just one thing,
a dangling puppet on a string.
And so I watch them come and go
I'll not be into humdrum thrown,
for I'm with freedom as it flies
I poke my future in the eyes.
No longer boiling in the pot
of finish quick or you'll be shot,
I'm back and to on freedom's swing
not dangling puppet on a string.

What a great take on the prompt you chose. Poking your future in the eye!

so fun! Thanks for this. -
This falls...
into my "that's cute" category. Now, that's not a bad category to be in as long as I'm in a good mood. If I'm not in a good mood, "cute" actually hurts. Here, today, it tickles.

Lol this is cute, Yes I know I was always shocking at deadlines, I always crammed at the last second. Beautifully done. Best to you in the contest

and as that wind goes rushing by
I poke my future in the eye.
I think I'll give my future a poke in the eye as well, it keeps coming too quickly.
Wonderful rhyme.

a good piece of poetry penned, freedom, i can just hear mel gibson now - then someone runs over from the other side and pokes him in the eye with a little twig and he runs off crying, saying no one ever learns anything.
