Smoke and Mirrors

Living here on my cloud of illusion,
Comfortable with the mask of fate,
Leeching on the dream of reality.

Thousands of miles up,
Watching my life from above,
Waiting for the move.

Itching and turning,
When will this castle in the air be over,
When can I return to absolution.

I need to grasp the earth,
The steady ground under my feet,
The facade of control.

It seems so distant,
So nonexistent and dreamy,
But yet so necessary.

This high I've grown accustom to,
These lies and deceits I've committed myself to,
I've slipped for the last time.

I know what I must become,
I accept my place in this world,
I honor the position I've been handed.

My part in this play,
The role I must perform,
My strings attached.

I wonder what my tale tells in the end,
What lesson can be learned,
What are you using me for puppet master.

What secrets do you hold,
How will you mold me,
Why won't you tell me?

What did you think?

I think everyone at some point in their life believes they're being controlled by soemthing bigger. You described how it feels perfectlly! There is something bigger out there. On their master plan we are just puppets in the show, reciting line after line, making move after move.I'm in awe of how great this one is! Good job!
