Heart of Yarn

My simple heart of yarn,
Tangled and twisted,
Mangled and scarred.

Ugly to the eye,
Cold to the touch,
Beating so lifelessly.

Atone for your discrimination,
Make amends with your judgments,
Be at peace with your accusations.

Understand who you were,
Become who you are meant to be,
Stray not unto the roads that fork it.

When you reach your light,
And all you've come to know,
Embrace your fear and acknowledge your enlightenment.

Then look down,
At the path below,
The wrong turns along the way.

Recognize the mishaps and misfortunes,
Accept the losses and destitution,
Encompass the lessons you learned on your journey.

Now pear to the start,
The bumpy dirt road you came from,
The abandoned houses and souls.

Do you see past the cloud and cover,
Into the shimmering spring of hope,
My beat and battered,
Little heart of yarn.
