The Golden Road and The Broken Road

I heard of a golden road,
Paved wide with dreams.
Promises of happiness,
Etched along the way.
Placing my eyes forward;
The brilliance was blinding,
I couldn't see at all.
Promises of truth all around
Shattered into tar, no solid ground.

I was told of a broken road,
Marked with rock and thorns;
Narrow and blood-stained,
Promises carved in stone.
I placed my eyes forward
Seeing the prints of those before.
Clear and defined;
My sight regained.
Promises kept and love seen,
Built on a hill beneath the tree.

      Thank you

      It's actually one of my top 5 fav songs by the band. The other 4 being Broken Promises, Awaiting Your Reply, Where Roses Grow, and Can't Get You Out Of My Mind. I grew up with this band and they really defined my thoughts on God next to Sheila Walsh. When I backslid their songs became my autobiography. Now that I have returned, I actually understand what they were saying. God's love is awesome.
