I watched the meteors fall
and thought of you;
How our lights burned brightly,
forever crossing that endless blue.
Skipping through the Milky Way,
Collided as one,
I dread to face the day
When our life together is done.
Just like the stars;
love is not true,
their dying light lies,
like what we once had too.
The tears in my eyes
when you left that night,
couldn't match what I saw
in your radiant light.
As you burned so brightly
and ended with a flash,
no more would I see you nightly
for our earth-bound dash.
You left me behind,
ending our journey too soon.
Burned into my mind,
leaving me amongst the stars and moon.
But love is blind,
I'll never see you again.
You broke our promise and chose to leave me,
my ephemeral friend.
After watching you falter,
mourning sorrow is all that remains true.
My life you did alter
So I pray to the sun that today; I won’t miss you.

very nice, this poem really goes with the prompt and you express your emotions so beautifully. I enjoy the comparison to love and the stars. The answer to the quote really is yes, sorrow will still be there, but how can I myself greet it? very nice poet, write on! good luck in my contest.
