Trouble

The child plays a lonely violin
while the piano plays a sad note
and the keys are dancing to the beat
of the willow trees, who are weeping so terribly

the years go by
and the trees still stand
but the piano is moved
and the violin is no longer there

the child is no longer a child
because we all must grow with no desire for it
and the world's troubles are getting to him
and making his stomach squirm

bad people mouth stupid words at the child
and everyone else laughs because they love the bad people
only the child realizes how awful the bad people are
only the child knows

by the last year before leaving
the child hates almost everyone
everyone has given him different disappointments
and the child wants nothing but to leave now

because his home has become hell.

This probably won't be a very useful comment, but I did enjoy reading the poem.

I felt it was pretty easy flowing except for the word squirm which caught me a little off guard at 12:30 am on this fine Thursday school night.

As for the general message being portrayed in the poem, I can say that I do understand the point of view. Everyone seems to disappoint everyone else is someway or another. I, personally, think the key is to ignore those disappointments, though. Everyone has some great qualities about them and give each other some very good times.

Now that I have reread the poem, can you explain the purpose of the lonely violin and sad piano, since they are latter removed? I'm a little confused on that part.

I don't really know... I wrote the first two lines of this poem like a month before i wrote the rest of it... It was in my notebook for a very long time. And I figured i should do something with it.. But i think in the second stanza they became symbols the child's childhood or something. i don't know.

If you believe in people, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. But if you don't believe in people, how can you love them? Everyone has their own hell.. the things that we fight, the things that we hide, and the things that we wish we could forget.. But that's no reason to hate people. None of us are perfect.. we just do our best. Can we really ask anything more of each other?
