Give me a Reason (Holding Everything...)

Give me a reason
to hold it all back
to hold it all in

give me a reason
to say "i love you"
when you know the truth

give me something
to hold onto
when you are gone

give me something
to let me know
everything is alright

holding it all back
holding it all in
is not something
that i'm really proud of

i stick my head up high
and ignore the pain inside
making it worse
but it is worth it

i do this so i can hide
so i don't have to show
the real me inside

so give me a reason
to not say a word
to not make a sound
to not make a move

give me a reason
to stay like this
holding everything back
holding everything in

    I think we all do this to a certain extent. Few of us ever show the real side of ourselves and we all have our own ways of hiding the truth of what we feel - for fear of hurting even more. You have written well here, everyone will see a little piece of themselves in it. LittleMoon
