My curfew's at eight
Although, it's getting shorter as the days pass
I can't stay up late
Even on weekends
Without them complaining
Start tripping and saying:
"Don't waste your life away
Sleeping in bed
When you could be doing something productive instead."
Bad influences are my friends
They make me social
When I'm expected to stay home
"It's not that we don't trust you
We just don't trust the world"
I just wish they'd stop
Holding me back
And let me live and make mistakes
Like a human being
Damn, I'm not an android
Cannot be perfect in every way
Seems like everything I do
Is a cause for alarm
Red alert! She defied us and got a boyfriend
Don't let her see him without another girl around
She might get pregnant on the first date
Oh, hell no, missy! You have a girlfriend/your date is of another race
Time to lock you up in your tower, Rapunzel
Until you're 18
No more parties or festivities for you
Ha! I'm not missing anything
There's hardly a time
I enjoy those things
Why won't you let me live?
Highschool is for more than academics
It's about stumbling and falling in love
Finding yourself slowly
And crazy nights with friends
Maybe a few drugs here and there
But I'm missing out
Becoming numb
It's almost over now
I'm smothered and smoldered
A few embers still burn
Blistering through the darkness
Tunneling towards the real world
But once they die
I'm stumbling blind
Lost in the dark
So, thanks mom and dad
I appreciate all you've done for me
I just believe for being such a good girl
I deserve a little freedom
Not run wild
Just live a little
But you know what's best for me
I'm just confused and naive
Too dumb to function on my own
It's alright, though
I'll be gone soon
Maybe I can live a little then
Ha! Yeah, right. I'm too socially inept
To participate
So, thanks again
For depriving me of necessary social skills
It's alright, though
I love yawl anyway.
Please tell me what you think

Thank you. I appreciate it. My parents over-protective nature inspired me.
