Invisible Dad

I barely know the man called Dad,
What I do know, makes me sad.
Broke my mother's heart and went away,
And that bothers me,still to this day.

How could you do what you do?
Make eleven kids just like you.
I can't believe what you've done,
Threw us away because you wanted a son!

Well ten of us are girls,
and we needed you too,
Do you know the hell you put us through?

Never a phone call,card,or a letter,
But I want you to know I'm doing much better.
I realize now,it's not us,it's you
And I could never treat my kids the way that you do!

    heartfelt

Great expression... I can really hear what you feel. It is great that you realized that it wasnt who you are or anything you did to make him be that way. It's interesting that men can just up and leave... Women are attached ever so much more to their children. I wonder, if women didn't carry the children and have that special maternal bond, if they (we) would do something similar? Or maybe it's more of a male thing... I'm sorry...philosophical rambling has nothing to do with your great poem.
This was a great read, and I really enjoyed it.

I can relate to this poem. My father has never been there for me or my brothers. I have been angry about it my whole life. Good job of expressing yourself so well. I love it

I can understand how you feel, my fur kids have grown up without a father but they have done better without one they could have grown up with. I know that wil never teat their children that way either. Great job expressing yourself. It is good that you have realized that it was not you but him.

My parents divorced when I was...twelve, I think...I've been angry about it ever since. Writing has been theraputic for me, and I'm sure the same goes for you, the pain and upset you put into this piece really stood out. Excellent writing!
