Have you ever seen beauty? TRUE BEAUTY? Not a flower. Not a girl dressed in a skimpy bikini. I'm talking about the truest beaty ever in the whole world. I've seen it. I live with it. I have the absolute pleasure of being even in it's presence. It leaves me breathless. It leaves me speechless.
6am
I slowly creaked open the large door to my bedroom. The room was darker than normal, as the blinds on the large bay window were drawn tightly shut. The TV was on an infommercial, and I tip toed to the large screen and turned it off. "I was watching that" i jumped, and nearly screamed. Curled up in my bed, with a tousled mess of hair, was my beauty. The white comforter was wrapped around her and she lay on her stomach, with one hand tucked underneath her head. I walked to the bed and jumped on, and laid behind her, pressing my stomach against her back. "Are you alright?" I slid my arm around her stomach and ran my thumb against her hand. She sighed. (I always hate her sighs) "You gotta get up hun. It's already 6." She groaned in tiredness. From down the hall, Bella began crying..and a minute later, Aiden joined in. I kissed her cheek and got up. "I got your black jeans and white shirt at the end of the bed. Get up, get dressed, and we gotta book it!"
6:45am
Car rides are always most interesting when Emmi isn't awake. She can either be crabby or silent. Today, she was silent. The kids in the back had by now lulled to sleep, Chase even. We pulled in to the airport parking lot and piled out, one by one, making our way with strollers and starbucks coffee containers. "You should be happy hun." I whispered as we rode the elevator to the first floor. Commuters from all over were scrambling around, running to watch their flight.
"I am. Just tired. I didn't fall asleep till 4." We found the gate and waited in silence. Emmi has no patience. At all. Wasn't born with it, and won't develop it. Ever. A good twenty minutes went by. Chase ran around the large pillars and Emmi ocassionaly told him to stay near if he strayed too far. A loud voice screeched from behind us. "OH MY GOD!" We turned, and finally, Emmi's face light up with the smile that I've come to love immensely. A group of ten people bombarded Emmi with hugs and kisses and roses and "hellos". I smiled and watched as Emmi hugged and greeted the bridesmaids.
10am
Have you ever sat back and watched girls be girls? It's almost comical. Emmi was wearing my zip up black sweatshirt and a pair of bright orange booty shorts as her hair was stacked high in curlers. I walked through the door and all the girls immediately squealed and started raving how beautiful Emmi was looking. The small kitchen was crammed full of girls getting ready. I went to emmi and pulled her up with my hand. Her makeup was finished, sparkles dabbled against her eye lids. I smiled. "How do I look?" She asked, stiking a pose. I smiled and held both of her hands.
"You are a true angel my love." Chaos ensued around me as someone stated the time. We're late! I shook my head and headed back to the basement where the men were huddled around, laughing lightly and figuring out what the hell a cumberbutton was and where it went on a tux. Kevin stood facing a mirror and tried to figure out his tie. I laughed and took his hands away and started to tie it for him. "Nervous I asked?" He nodded.
"Shaking dude." I finished and someone yelled from upstiars that the limo was here and they had to dash.
"Mr. Silcast! Get your ass up here right now!" I smiled as the other men trudged up the stairs and I kept going until I hit the top level and was shoved in to Emmi's room. She sat on her desk chair, looking in the mirror, wearing a bra and panties, her dress and veil hanging on the curtain.
"I wanted you to be the one to put me in my dress." She said, looking at me through the mirror. I smiled and for a good half an hour we wiggled her in her dress. "no that goes here, wait, no stop oh no, wait, okay slide your arm here" And finally...my angel was complete! I smiled...I began crying as I bobby pinned her veil over her face. She looked up at me.
"How is it?" She whispered. I hugged her, then kissed her forehead.
"You are perfect babe. Go knock em dead."
2pm
I've never seen Emmi so calm. I was shaking. The large doors opened and before I knew it, I was walking down the aisle. one...two...one..two....left foot....right foot....left foot...right foot.. I could barely hold my composure. We got to the end, and I parted with the maid of honor and took my place. Finally, everyone rose as the doors opened, and Emmi and her father were revealed. I eyed Kevin, who was looking at her, with a surprisingly blank stare. I held my breath. Pearls, glitter, nothing compared to her face. She was beaming. At the end of the aisle, her father kissed her cheek and took his place. Kevin stepped down from the stage to meet her...wait..he wasn't supposed to do that. He began talking..no this was wrong! Emmi's have broke. Before anyone knew it, Kevin began walking up the aisle, and burst out the doors of the church.
You've never heard such silence.
