Fragile hands

regulars often heard
shattering of glass and china.

in their insobriety
they mocked at the tavern owner...

“your missus angry mate?”

knowing little
that behind the walls
was something more to mock
~ hands, proficient
to handle schoolbooks and dolls.

I too find this a little scary; I think it is the broken glass couple with the last two lines, from which I infer a woman or girl behind the wall... your poem makes me imagine several variations of what might be happening here, and that is an excellent thing for a poem to do! Well-done! Lita
