Mirror Image

I sit and wonder why is she with this abusive man?
could it be love or could it be sin.
I wonder what he has to offer and what does he do
to make her feel that she is worth more than truth.

I wonder about the bruises on her arms, legs, and face
could they come from him, or were they accidentally placed?
Her face used to be beautiful beyond despair,
but now all I see upon her is sadness and not a care.

I wonder what he did to make her smile?
it isnt his first impression, he never went an extra mile.
She may smile when she's with him,
but behind closed doors is there more to deal with?

I wonder how could this be true?
that she fell in love with him and never came unglued.
Maybe it's just fiction in her mind of memories,
letting all the bad moments fade in the breeze.

I wonder about the times that run through her head,
how could she be in love with someone like him?
It's sad how I look at it now,
I'm the girl in the mirror trying to figure myself out.
