Milo's a pretty lucky cat
He's got the best friend in the world
But enough about that
We all just want to belong
We all want purpose and reason
But no one more so than the runt
Us runts have the longest way to go
He escaped the slaughter
Got sent unwanted to a farm
They tried to fatten him up
The only use the humans saw
Babe needed to be loved
Who would love a useless runt?
But Fly was a special dog
She took Babe in with her litter
Took him under her wing
She loved him
But Babe was not a dog
How could he be loved like one of her own?
Babe decided to become a sheep dog
It was the only way he could serve a purpose
The only way he could be saved
And feel like he belonged
Babe had a different technique
He didn't bully the sheep like the mean ol' sheepdogs
He just asked them nicely
He made friends with the sheep
The sheep listened to him
They respected the poor little runt
Soon Babe was the one the Farmer relied on
When no other could do the job
The great sheepdog trials were once again at hand
The farmer had a real wacky idea
What if he entered Babe!
He decided that was exactly what he would do
Soon the day came for the competition
The other dogs completed the sheep herding
Racing as fast as they could
Things were very tense
What made things worse was
Babe didn't know these sheep
They wouldn't listen to him
The Farmer stood to look like a fool and Babe just a useless pig
Fly and Rex stood idly by
What could they do?
The competition looked to be a disaster
A great embarassment to their master
Rex had always hated Babe
Babe had taken his place with Fly
And eventually with the farmer too
He was supposed to be in the competition not a stupid pig
When Babe was sent out on the field course
Everyone thought the farmer was mad
They laughed at him!
"HA HA HA HA HA look at that silly pig who thinks he's a dog HA HA!"
But Rex had come a long way
He didn't want to see his master humiliated
And, damn it if Babe hadn't begun to win him over too
What happened next cannot be described
It needs to be seen to be believed
All you need to know is that the film ends
It ends with an unlikely hero
And the words "That'll do pig. That'll do."
Author notes
It took over four years to make Milo and Otis. It has been subject to animal abuse accusations. But it is the greatest testament to friendship ever put to film. The Japanese director said the animals were raised together and were best friends in real life!

Unfortunately (or fortunately, probably) I have never seen the film to which you refer. I find it peculiar that a Japanese should show sentiment over animals - the Japanese kill dolphins and whales with glee, yet get all gloopy over a piggy-wiggy?

I thought it had a sweet ending. I liked it. Thanks for joining my moresome.
