You Justify My Existence

You are here in my arms yet farther away
I know I loved you even before I met you
In benighted gloom I search for the light of the day

In times of glee and in times of grey
Never did I walk away, never was I untrue
You are here in my arms yet farther away

I traded my soul to see you happy and gay
My love always came to your rescue
In benighted gloom I search for the light of the day

I dreamt of togetherness that would stay
But destiny tore us apart into two
You are here in my arms yet farther away

Every second of my life I always pray
If only our love could see us through
In benighted gloom I search for the light of the day

I wish I could run up to you and say
You justify my existence,a fact I cannot undo
You are here in my arms yet farther away
In benighted gloom I search for the light of the day...

Rinzu, this is a beautiful Villanelle... one of the hardest forms of poetry to pen... true feelings justifying your existence... though I liked all of it but the last stanza was the clincher for me... good luck in the contest...
