Wounded Womb

To be female, frail-
like the Earth’s failure to reproduce.
The tension sinks deeper
than flesh, than bone

all the way down to the wounded womb

But behind the scenery
blocked by an ultra-violent ray
rest an uneasy decay,
at the heart and soul

as I weep for all that’s ever been made

A sunrise and another day has yet to be displaced
even amidst the most heated of breathes,
always replenishing the pursed folds
and mothers’ creased face

I’d say she’s aging quiet well
(and she knows it)

There’s a time to mask
but love, I need to see that face.
Let us rinse off our war paint
and settle into the atmosphere

after all.

    WOW!
Im speechless, such a sweet sadness! I can't wait to read what else you write.
"Let us rinse off our war paint

This is my favorite line, intense...

This is unique. Somewhat sad observations...ending with a plea or message on how things can be better. Well done.

that line tells me that you have a somewhat realistic view of the way things really exist. We're all blinded, but some of us have had times that the veil between us and the universe thinned. A barren womb but a fertile heart. Well written. Rinse off the warpaint... did that

the imagery in this is what brings it to life....
i am confused about the first & second line. to be female, frail like the earth? the earth to me is my bedrock - she is not frail, she is where i gather all my strength. to me, we are female - silent, as our wounded wombs are ignored and our life rejected. the earth does not fail to reproduce; we fail to see it. i think we are saying the same thing in different ways. maybe not.

I surely do appreciate your comment and the depth of it as well. Thank you!
I don't usually comment on comments but, you're an exception.

So in the first couple of lines I do not relate being a frail female to the Earth herself...

I relate being a frail female to the Earth's failure to reproduce...

and from there you can use your imagination.
