John Berryman's Fall & Rise

Between the Beats and sylvia
plath

between 77 dream songs
and pulitzer fame

between depression and
his fathers suicide

between act and symbol
in renewal

he phoenixed

off the washington avenue
bridge

missed the mississipi

and struck the cement
embankment

then got up slowly

his limbs
flickering in blue flames

    Whoa o.O

Very graphic but also metophoric! I must admit the last half the poem I like the most with the discription of the how he crashed hard but was able to rise through to a glorious victory...well at least that's what I see with this poem! Very well done!

I love the ending of this... and how well it tells the story, making the tragic beautiful. Great job, here. Thank you for entering
