A walk of 15 minutes
across streets, around houses,
across a field, up a hill
and I'm there.
A simple bench
in memory of a man I never knew
and I sit and stare.
Grass, trees, houses close and distant
I can see it all.
The sun setting
between lightly swaying trees
giving me bursts of golden light
between spindly branches.
Birds fly in and out, up and down
soaring over head,
giving me cause to look at the darkening sky
such a tranquil sight.
The breeze rolls in, peace floating upon it
washing over my still form.
I am undisturbed,
I am alone but not afraid,
for here I am safe,
protected by nature
and the sense of my own satisfaction.

i could see it. i really think you did an good job here. my favorite part was:
"the sun setting
between lightly swaying trees
giving me bursts of golden light"
it sounded so good -
exellent
Oh...I like this a lot. I used to be enamered with being in nature. I really don't have time to experience it any more.
