And that was how it all began, sitting there on the bus to the city on a rainy day. You were wearing that funny hat, your "It's ruined anyway, so it's perfect for the rain" hat, and I had my files tucked under my Brooks Brothers jacket so that they would not get wet...

nice bus you have there... around here you might need a 9mm under your jacket...!
I was thinking of expanding upon this piece, to include the first look, and the promises embedded in those... maybe in another piece... something like
"embedded promises, in our first look, when we dared to make eye contact with that which we desired;
then when I said hi, and you said hello, when we dared to speak and ruin the unspoken romance..."
let me try this out on the bus... "you were so desirable, dare I make eye contact? Too late, it happened. What did I sense staring back at me? What promises were made in that instant? Dare I speak and ruin our thoughts? Too late, somehow it happened, maybe it was a jostle from the crowd, or a sound passing by that spoke of urgency... "Hi." "Hello." Now we are on a new plane; if only we could retreat back into silence, back into reading one another's minds... where romance dwells... such a worthy pursuit...

Not very epic here poet. Maybe the saga lies in the meeting point.

yes, and also in the "and then.." if the reader dwells on it...
