So near but still so far

Soft as the winds of the vale,
is the warmth in your trail.
Over the hills, the river flows,
Beside which the wildflower grows.
Pretty glow of the night star,
so near... but still so far.

Under the spell that you've cast,
you've got me shining to the last.
Shadows drift away in time,
fade against the sky sublime.
Waters fall, and they do heal,
the pain of every little ordeal.

The bells toll, they speak of love,
as we look to the heavens above.
From a distance your smile I see,
as it sets my soul free.
Like the power of a hundred stars,
so near, you're still so far.

Sands of time are slipping away,
while I so want them to stay.
Flowers wither, rivers dry,
earth breaks, clouds sigh.
Much like you I see a star,
so near but still so far...
