Fairest Snow White

How did this happen,
to the fairest Snow White?
Always dreaming of true love,
but nothing’s turned out right.

The wicked witch of distrust
has left her wounded and bleeding.
Attack after attack,
leaving no time for healing.

Now it’s business meetings,
constant chores and deadlines.
No time to get personal.
She’s afraid to cross that line.

Poisoned by distrust,
but true love’s dying to be set free.
What has she done to herself?
What have I done to me?

Author notes

I drew my inspiration from the quote listed. "All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams."
~Elias Canetti

I was inspired to write this poem because lately I've been busying myself with my school work and forgetting about romance, and my ultimate dream, to have a family of my own. For the past two days now, I've been having problems with it, and I've gotten a bit lonely... but it's just something I've got to live with for now. I hope you enjoy this poem!

PS: This was a fabulous quote to put in the contest!

~Gin

thats a nice parody of the faery tale, very interesting way to romanticize the idea and make it your own. It was very enjoyable and I'm sure many a busy soul can relate to this piece. nice job and good luck in the contest.

    Hmmm...

Dear Gin, the poems lovely and well done, its simple and elegantly rhymed...!
and the thing about feeling lonely, I think its kind of universal, I feel lonely too, a lot nowadays,
What has she done to herself?
What have I done to me? - I really love the way you conclude most of your writes...!

I always try to end my poems with something meaningful and catchy, and in this poem, it's more meaningful than catchy. However, thanks for the inspirational comment!
