My Life
Fluff from the dryer
String from an old kite in the garage
Grit left on the bathroom sink
Dust left on the dresser drawer
An old key found in the basement
Water spots on the drinking glasses
Grass shavings from the lawn
Dog hair on the couch
Such is my life
When it comes down to a Sunday night
When there is only time
To reflect upon the small incidences
That make up the whole of the picture
Pulled apart minute by minute
To slowly arise into my consciousness
As the new week begins
Do you feel the same way at the end of a weekend?

Sometimes I feel this way, but that is our challenge as poets, to find the extraordinary in the everyday. What was it that Blake said, about finding infinity in a grain of sand and eternity in an hour. I'm sure I misquoted him but that's the idea.
