Whither shalt thou wander amidst the autumn sky,
Oh, whither shalt thou wander whilst my heartbeat cries?
And wilt thy thoughts return to me as the trees, they die,
Shall winter herald your warm embrace or shall frozen willows sigh?
Whither shalt thou wander within this world so vast,
Oh, whither shalt thou wander, and when return at last?
Whither shalt thou wander upon a mothen wing,
Oh, whither shalt thou wander with my heart a'breaking?
And shalt thou, for thoughts of me, a mournful tune let ring,
Shall thy heart, for missing me, allow thy lips to sing?
Whither shalt thou wander within this world so vast.
Oh, whither shalt thou wander, and when return at last?
What might I do to hold thee sway,
And keep thee here each day?
Is't not enough - the love that my eyes say,
My joy, in your presence, arrayed?
Whither shalt thou wander within this world so vast,
Oh, whither shalt thou wander, and when return at last?
Author notes
Theoretically, this will (a) get finished and (b) turn into a farewell from Niamh to Oisin, but we'll see how that ends up. It may just be a soft goodbye poem in the end...
