Still

I lay there under the covers of my defense
There's something wrong I feel it in the air
Opening my eyes I see only darkness
My body paralysis as my eyes search the room
My heart pounding as I feel it beating
My body so motionless the air seems to stop
Something that is there is not there
Scanning the room again my eyes catch nothing
Feeling cornered I pull the covers over my face
I shiver as I feel the presence near    closer
Fearing to lift the covers I lay there  closer
Opening my eyes to see through the covers I look
I see nothing the darkness holding me back
I pull the covers down from my eyes  darkness
Nothing is there
I lay there under the covers of my defense
My body paralysis as my eyes search the room
I open my eyes to another pair of eyes
Afraid I shoot up looking where the eyes once saw
Gone
I look ahead and see the outline of him
A man I once loved yet I see right through him
I start to say his name
As soon as my lips parted he vanished
A single tear dropped hot from my eyes
I try to sleep again
I feel him again
And love him still
