The wind dances through chimes into my window.
I know that you are here.
A subtle sense of childlike love overcomes me,
Appearing on my face, an unmistakable smile.
Chiming melodies resemble a song you always sang,
When against your better judgment thought I was not listening.
I still recall every note, word, crescendo, and rest.
Your breaths in between lyrics resound in my ear.
So sweet was the sound,
How I wish you were still here...

Very lovely words you've penned here, I can feel the longing in that last line. It makes me think of summer days alone when the wind picks up and memories flood our minds.
bravo and thank you for entering

loss
relate to this, how can you really loose someone who stays in your heart?

-
my mother passed in 2001, this reminded me of her. Sometimes I can feel her around me. A sweet write!

the personification of the wind at the beginning sets the scene for the poem nicely...
don't know if this was on purpose but there are a lot of s sounds in the poems and it creates the tone intended, as well as the sound of the scene excellently as well...
well done. :

stunning
I'm not the biggest lover of prose but this took me to another place! I loved it! your strongest line.. 'I still recall every note, word, crescendo, and rest.' I love the way the speaker recalls love like music. Like a lost c.d that can't be played again but you can still hear the sound in your head, through you memory of the song! stunning
good luck

You have written a beautiful lament in just a few short words. Your poetic voice shines in this little gem you have written. I very much enjoyed and identify with the words in this poem.
Good luck in the contest.
