Cupid

Is Cupid an evil angel or a good devil
created to bring sex to a human level?
Who has not felt ecstasy shot in the heart
only to have their life torn totally apart?

Yet, Eros has come to our own psyche
to perplex the senses and the like.
An oxymoron not unlike a holy war
to warm the haunted heart to the core

Love can stink or smell so very sweet,
lead the the strong to a certain defeat.
Inspire the apathetic toward a goal
for which they would risk their very soul

If I were a pagan I would blaspheme cupid
For making me feel so foolish and stupid,
but in my mind that would not be wise
because the next arrow may hold a surprise.

    this is great.
"An oxymoron not unlike a holy war
to warm the haunted heart to the core"
    and the end
    were my favorite lines.

How profound, cynical, yet leaving just enough doubt to tantalise your audience that it maybe different next time. Which of course is the hook that entices all of us to try love again. Excellent
