Born to be a leader
to survive against all odd.
Even in the rain or shine
the well-worn path you'd trod.
All the highest features
you've inherited from your past.
Flawless looks and stunning eyes
highest intelligence surpassed.
You play by the rules
only where the pack can see.
For you are one with the wild
Your spirit is free.
Abandoned straight from birth
left to fend for yourself.
You've learned from the beginning
it's every wolf for themself.
In the end its still every packmate for themselves
you're a pup trying to survive the winter.
A pebble could possibly kill you
or a paw with an embedded splinter.
No one there to teach you
forced to learn on your own.
Toughened by the seasons
kept alive by forces unknown.
But against all odds
you will stay alive.
Because you are of the wild
born to survive.

Great
I like it, except if the wolf is abandoned, how does he end up with a pack?
Don't packs of wolves support all it's members too?
Oh, what am I talking about? I'm just splitting hairs, I'm sorry...
A great write, and a lovely take on the contest - it makes me thankful that I [as a human] did not have to fend for myself from birth - good job! -
Not Bad.
How would you like to be my arch enemy? LOL.
This was fantastic. Just in the first stanza, second line, it should be "odds" not "odd". And also just a question but how does a splinter kill you?
Very nice. Did you see the panini's newest poem it rocks!

If you're a pup, and you're in the wild alone, a splinter in the paw would mean you couldn't hunt. If you can't hunt, you starve. If you starve ... you die.
