Figures form and haunt me.
Stunned by fear, I cannot move.
They glare, spook, taunt me.
The darkness consumes weary ones,
Who let down their defense.
Moonlit creations reside in my room,
At my personal expense.
No more hiding under cover,
I'm done with fear and fright.
I'll gather my courage to reach the lamp,
This all ends tonight.
Author notes
I feared shadows as a kid.
I wouldn't even move an inch in my bed if they were there.

Excellent rhyme. That's really very spooky, I like to think I've grown out of it but since I joined AP and read so many shadow poems I do notice them more.

No more hiding under cover, I'm done with fear and fright. I'll gather my courage to reach the lamp, This all ends tonight. You should'nt have fear like that, you should'nt have to be scared, you shjould be happy. Thank you for sharing, this was pretty good keep penning, good luck in the contest.

Fear knocked at the door
I answered...
And there was nobody there!!!
This is a wonderful and darkly cute poem, you have written here.
I enjoyed how you became resolute to empower yourself
to overcome your fear in the last stanza.
I very much enjoyed reading this poem.
Good luck in the contest.
