as the clock struck thirteen.
She strode through the portal,
swaying in time with the jubilant music
ringing through the lofted rafters…
singing from the chandeliers.
Like a moonlight dream-
her countenance glowed, caressed
by the darkness hovering at her back;
bruised alabaster shining in the night.
Framed by towering raven locks
gently kissing her delicate flesh.
Her gaze swept the floor of swirling heads;
sapphire stare lighting on a sorrowful soul.
She glided in grace as if light as
the lightest cool autumn breeze
through the revelry filled dancers twirling about.
Seemingly unnoticed by most… if not all…
Her aura consumed the small, timid girl
as she took up the bright cherub face,
a small rosy cheek cradled
in each cold, tinted hand.
Fearing what she sensed lain quelled within;
she stood, beckoning visions to shine through
mirrored charcoal eyes, tainted by fate.
She chanted in a rich, accented voice,
“Evil lust consumes
the best of intentions
when transparent love
casts her sensual spell.
Innocence lost…
this eve… this night…
Death screams silence
bleeding the ears of insanity.
A tender young girl is
driven to the depths of decay
while cradled within
his absinthe embrace...
Muerte canta tu nombre
mi flor delicada.”
Her icy grasp released the grief stricken girl
now frozen as stone, in dread,
for the misfortune this odd stranger told.
The Prussian hued lady
flowed away through the crowd,
fading into the night, silently as
the subtle grand entrance she made.
No trace left to see that she had ever arrived…
but the perfume of lilac hung in the still air.

Title: Dama Muerta = Dead Lady
Muerte canta tu nombre mi flor delicada = Death sings your name my delicate flower.
Prussian is a shade of blue for anyone who may not know.
I took this prompt with a little bit of a twist…
my woman is the ghost of a fortune teller… so I hope combining two options works good for you

i was so excited that i actually understood the spanish here
beautifully written. thank you for entering.
-
That doesn't go with the rules of the Language contest.
-
-
Yeah it does... there are at least two lines in a foreign language...
"Muerte canta tu nombre
mi flor delicada.”
Last time I checked Spanish was foreign to English speakers
-
-
Sorry hun, just glazed over it.
-
-
It's ok
That's what I figured happened since the lines are so far into the poem

thats a really noice poem its the kind im always looking foward to read and with spanish it really gave it a touch, its suppose to be "La muerte canta tu nombre" if you are talking about the girl, but if you are talking about death it self well its okay then!! see you!
-
-
I'm talking about death itself, but thank you for pointing something small like that out! It's very rare that I actually get a comment from someone with a helpful suggestion or correction when they see something that could have multiple uses or be worded differently. Hmmm I think that made sense
All I'm sayin' is thanks for the insightful comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed.

This is clearly the best I've seen in this contest, superior in all ways, especially the clock chiming 13 times (where can I get one of those?).

-
Well... ever wonder what the "Beyond" is in Bed Bath and Beyond?
Ok, that was way cheesy. Thanks for the great comment!
-
-
Yeah, this really works. You have given us a very precise adaptation of the picture with your words... and the story of the girl, the chant adds to this reality you have created... Beautifully executed.

This piece is bursting with so many beautiful colors. I think the background adds to it. You have penned a compelling story here of the past and the future. A truly gorgeous write!!!!
Thank you for entering and Good Luck in the Contest!!!! -

Simply wonderful darling! I loved the use of imagery in your poem. and thank you for the translations. My foriegn language is American Sign Language so i don't think i could read that without it. lol. I loved your incorrporation of the ghost and fourtane teller. That was simply brilliant! Keep up the good work and good luck in the contest!

Thanks for commenting I'm glad you enjoyed it! It may take me a bit 'cause I've been gone for a efw days but I will get around to returning the comment

oooh, IT's got the feel of 'phantom of the opera' to it, execeptional enlightened by its dark sombre. You've done very well here.
