Severed beauty

songs they sang

were sung no more as death came upon

thy door

they'd kneel in fright and lose all sight
on the marble stone

silence died as children cried
left here all alone

the sun would come a thousand days
to wash away the pain

snubbing out all memory of songs

that they once sang

    oh my friend,
your words tug at a place
I keep hidden , for fear of invoking memories
but too late... I have traveled back to a place
that burns deep and filled with tears of a child
not yet dried by the sun, but covered with forgiveness
    non the less,

    love this write Tony
    you always seem to capture
a piece of what I have experienced
in my own life, I hope this makes
    sense to you,

    love and blessings

You evoked such emotions with your write here friend...Vivid imagery as I see those children, without a song, afraid and alone shut away....My you do have the gift to portray feeling in your choice of words...The rhyme and flow is beautiful as well! Bravo!

Such sadness comes in the loss of song - children's song. Wonderfully soft rhyme in this tender tune. Beautiful poetry. ~Pamela

when death takes a love one, the loneliness and loss we feel.
