There are times in our lives
when we have to stop for a moment
and take stock of what we have
not the money or the material things
but the people in our lives
If we lose a material item
or the money in our pocket
we can easily
replace it
But when we lose a loved one
a pet or a friend
that is something we can never
ever replace
The one you hold dear
is here
with you
but for how long
Time is something we have no control over
ever changing
once a moment is gone
you can never have it back
You must hold your loved ones close
tell them you love them
even when it starts to sound
like a broken record
Pay attention to every movement
every word, the sound of their voice
remember the look in their eyes
when they kiss you good night
The smiles and the laughter
the funny mistakes they make
these are the things that will hold you over
till after death you again meet
A day will come
when they will leave this place
and you will have only memories
of their love and laughter
and their once smiling face
