A Saints Dash (1910-1997)

Missing image

Just a pencil in the hand of God

tumultuous mountain ranges trod,

writing love letters upon the world

a sea of faithfulness she unfurled.

Giving the poor their souls to enrich

human needs and suffering her niche,

feeding the hungry- healing the lame

for the love of God, never for fame.

Assisting the destitute worldwide

with true humility void of pride,

promoting international peace

with heavenbound prayers that never cease.

Much more could be said about this saint

that served through her dash without complaint,

in heaven now with pencil in hand

love letters sent from the promised land.

Author notes

I read the dash many years ago and it touched me deeply. The first person I thought of then came to mind immediately upon reading again this time.... Mother Teresa. What a dash she had and what an impact on the world. We should all be so fortunately to have such a fulfilled and meaningful dash.

Now this is a dash that everybody on earth can aand should learn from. You couldn't have picked a more profound dash to write about! You rhythm and flow was well done and you rhyme was spot on. Nothing felt forced. Reading this beautiful testiment of a dash well spent, reminds me of the prayer of Saint Frances.
Thank you so much for entering my contest.
