Life of her own (Quindeca)

Tantalizing delusions of grandeur,
in a country preacher daughters young mind.
She's just eighteen and thoughts rather impure,
looks for trouble anywhere she can find.
Doesn't know what's out there, knows this for sure,
she just cannot live being so confined.

Want's to be a star or maybe groupie,
do as she wishes with no restriction.
There's a whole wide world out there to see,
had enough of our Lord's crucifixion.
Prays to go to college, set herself free,
she loves her Lord but dreams nightly of sin.

A preachers daughter sits home all alone,
thinking thoughts her father wouldn't condone,
wishing soon she'd get a life of her own.

being a preachers daughter myself you have nailed the story well on how our mind works being restricted for so long to do right you just explode one day sometimes too much and cause too much havoc on your life but you can turn it all around in the end if you chose thanks for writing and what a interesting take you got from the quote well done poet

I still remember having feelings very much like these living as a teenager in a catholic home, and oh yes 'had enough of religeon. It is a story many will relate to not so much today though.Good theme structure and rhyme... much enjoyed looking back.
