Lifetime

I shall be there when you are afraid
I'll help you sleep with a lovely serenade.
Forever we shall be side by side
My most constant supporter, the one in whom I confide.
You are my lion and I'll be your bear
To all the world, I am here to declare
"I LOVE THIS WOMAN WITH ALL THAT IS ME
NO OTHER BEING HAS MORE BEAUTY."

This day is the first of the rest of our lives
And no matter, our love always survives.
In youth we were together and proud
Our pride covered up our love in a cloud
Shrouded by this, it could not withstand
And soon we gave in to other petty demands.

Later in life we became once again
You chose me above all other men
What joy we had, rejoicing as one
Until it was over, until we were done.
It failed, and we did not try hard to revive
The passion that would help our love survive.

Years upon years later, near the end of our time
We met once again, and felt what we had in our prime.
This time it worked, from all the learned lessons in life
But time can sometimes cut like a knife
For after all this time, when our love truly allied,
We both fell ill that same night, and died.

Author notes

A lifetime of love. You can truly love a person for a lifetime without being with them.
You never know what will happen in the future, so embrace your time now. Have few, to no regrets. And in the end, you shall be happy, no matter where life roads take you.
