Young Without Emotions

I sit by her
on the couch
while she doodles a heart
in a notebook I loaned her

"Look!"
She pokes my arm
and I turn to look at her picture

I used to be surprised
to see the broken heart
with tears
and raindrops in the background
but I'm use to it now

"That's really cool"
I say to her

She smiles and continues drawing

I don't know why she draws
sad depressing pictures like that
I've tried talking to her
but nothing's wrong
She just says
it's what she wants to draw

As she adds the finishing touches
with her markers
I wonder in the thoughts
of her
my eight year old sister

Author notes

This is actually true. My little sister is eight and she draws pictures like that all the time

I had no idea Lina drew like that.
Perhaps she gets it from you.
