Eyes In Her Tears

Yesterday you realized something
You didn't know before
About the girl whose face is hidden
The girl you usually ignore

Her aversion to everyone around
The words she utters about heart ache
Aren't just a plea for attention
The feelings she expresses aren't fake

The tears she sheds aren't forced
Like the smile across her face
The bitterness is not an act
And you should hang your head in disgrace

Because it took you so long to notice
The look of pain is not just for show
There are eyes in her tears, I bet that is
A truth you didn't want to know

Because now you feel obligated
To show sympathy for her
But after what you called her yesterday
More neglection from you is what she'd prefer
