A day with a cool drink close at hand,
content with the sun high above me;
But instead of a beach with crowded white sand
I'm found in a forest, shaded by trees.
Content with the sun high above me,
my summer is spent far from tourists and tans.
I'm found in a forest, shaded by trees,
the next page of my book is my only demand.
My summer is spent far from tourists and tans,
sharing the soft whistled song of a lark;
The next page of my book is my only demand,
until I can trace galaxies in the dark.
Sharing the soft whistled song of a lark,
with cricket chirp symphonies filling the night,
Until I can trace galaxies in the dark
snuggled under the stars, sleeping bag zipped up tight.
With cricket chirp symphonies filling the night,
true peace can be found in the mountain's embrace;
Snuggled under the stars, sleeping bag zipped up tight,
I just can't dream up a more idyllic place.

Author notes
I did this in a form called pantoum http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/pantoum.html but I didn't follow it to the letter because I wanted my end stanza to be different. I put this in the category of my icky rhyming happy poetry, but I put a fair amount of work into it (before giving up and making it cliche), so it's up here. Bleh.
