Homeless and Somber

It's not fun to be homeless, I've been there once before
I didn't like it in the shelter and couldn't take it anymore
we were only there for a month, but the place was really bad
people fought, people stole, and some people were just mad

the food was really nasty....and the people were too
I hated the place from the beginning and trust me, you would too
we even had a curfew and were far from doctors and such
I really missed having home cooked meals a whole entire bunch

not only was it nasty, but it looked like a prison of hell
I hated being homeless, as if you couldn't tell
but I didn't have a choice and did what I had to do
and it was the only place for me and my family to go

and now, we have an apartment and are trying to make it through
it just goes to show you, that you have to do what you have to do
