A Single Red Rose

A single red rose to pierce your heart
Shot through with love like a blank beauty queen
Things to say and times to speak
over and under these things are to keep

Blood and tears to donate to hope
One so much harder to extract
Words worsen thought and gifts are for glamour
there is no time left for pride

Late nights entwine emotion, and encourage a mind to run
but faces read like walls in weak light
To touch or to take in a fever of fear
Shame like a flood of truth, calling too low to hear

Waking to warmth on a cold day in summer
Last it cannot because moment caged right
Now heaving unhinged and shaking in treason
Peace will depart and return home to reason

Fall asleep while the world slips by
Add another memory that she fails to remember
What happens today is mute spoken tonight
Faith in October dies out by December...
On this, trust in spark hinders

All flowers whither with dreams to dissapoint
A symbol unfit for a heartworthy token
Red blooming amaranth forever in search
to erase any want of the spoken

But magic proves cruel and ever after eludes
Never providing crimson petals to covet
What idol unworthy can a humble man offer...
A single red rose for my love

Please tell me what you think

I adored this poem...it has vivid imagery and wild possibilities!

    fav. lines:
A single red rose to pierce your heart
Shot through with love like a blank beauty queen

A single red rose to pierce your heart and
each petal bled my blank dark beauty queen.

there are many ways and directions you take your poem...
you have an Excellent framework and skeletal structure for it already!

Just a few touches here and there to iron and smooth it out.

    you write dark and abstract!
    wow...
what a lovely gift to have...
and you seem to write with a natural voice for it!
    (i'm green with envy)
