Have you ever wanted
to slip into another's
bathrobe, headspace, universe--
nothing permanent, mind you,
just one or two hours.
no more.
and then what?
to the laundry with you,
my slightly soiled friend?
or is your fate
to be determined
by Goodwill collectors,
for whom everything has a price?
I wouldn't blame you
if you started running
right
about
now.
Author notes
Been listening to Imogen Heap's new album Ellipse lately, and toying with the idea of "taking on" another's life, represented in this poem by the bathrobe.
Of course, once you take something on, how do you take it off?

creatively using the prompt. i like the depth you took this while remaining in the mode of extended metaphor. well done.

Wow. Interesting, philosophical take on the prompt. I love how you combine creativity and simplicity. Very nicely done.
