The birds that fly
don't often cry;
they're free, it seems from sorrow.
But those that can't
are apt to rant
and sob until tomorrow.
Sad is the sound
of a bird, earth bound,
whose wings are mere decoration.
Their attempts at flight
are short and slight
and end in great frustration.
There are those who say
such is the way
of our world-wide evolution.
This may be so
but, can we know
that this is nature's solution?
The ostrich will stand

This is a thoughtful write, my friend. I enjoyed it, and find my mind working There certainly is something tragic about being tethered or having wings clipped. Maybe that is why the ostrich can run at such great speeds and is terrifically strong. I 've never wanted to own a bird, to have to see them caged when they could be soaring and singing.
We tend to see it happening with people, too, but I won't go into that at the moment, other than to say we should encourage winged thought and dreams if we are to pursue happiness without harm to others. Life is not meant to stagnate.
