Insomnia

My dreams are so close,
yet so far away.

When I close my eyes
there's no singing flowers
welcoming me,
nor a carousel in the sky.
No, there's only darkness
that plagues slumbersome sight.

My sheep have stopped hopping the fence,
they tuckered themselves out
counting their own.
No lullabies will play for me;
the radio is dead.

I am not the only one
who cannot sleep tonight,
but as the hours tick away,
I feel like I am the only one left alive.

    a good piece of poetry penned, ah insomnia, it is a mad one at times for all of us, my sleep patterns are all over the place, sometimes i don't get any sleep until way past dawn.
