Being Apart

Reassignment came upon us,
and we knew that it would.
Change was not an option,
even if we knew we could.

Torn apart by duty,
many promises were made.
Memories of her beauty,
making love in the shade

Many lines were crossed,
during this crazy time.
A time of being lost,
hoping it would all be fine.

To escape from the fold,
and run from the fear.
Many lies were told,
that ended with a tear.

Who’s hit the hardest,
is not the point to make.
Or who can pass a test,
when our feelings are at stake.

When choices are so few,
desperation leads our mind.
Decisions made without a clue,
of the consequences we will find.

Hearts and hands held in tow,
prepared for the fall.
Times like that we need to know,
love takes care of all.
