One Summer

Blessed with lithium kisses
that stirred
emotion and
changed her mood,

And diazepam darkness
where the blackout beast
knows best.

A homegrown
opium haze
weekend,

Clamming for
a genuine fix,

Then mauled by
a wrestler
in a double bedded
daydream fantastic fantasy.

A sexually  satanic
sucking off,

Ending with malice
after broken hearted
love hate heat.

Now masonic lodge
sour mash grapes
of wrath.

Secret sect of
butt naked speed
kicks and cheap
thrills,

Masturbatory
mashed up head fuck
on the back row
craving pipe dreams
and foil scenes.

If I am not
satisfied there
will be more
next year,

Next summer.

As this summer fades
into a shadowy
memory,

One summer more,

When I turned
from saint to
sinner.

Now a summer past,

Just one summer,

Nothing more,

As I turned 34.

What did you think

Intense... and quite thought provoking! Your word usage packs a punch. Quick, deliberate and to the point! Intense feeling also. Well done. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Alliteration and stark images flow this through from start to finish. This is a black and white photograph, no vivid color here to obscure or detract from the harsh images. well done

    Great

Loved the references to lithium and so forth, the sexual undertones and the lovely imagery.

    nice imagery and word selections...

sounds like many summer for me as well, not to mention the rest of the seasons. Popping Valiums with whisky, chasing dragons and talking to god...yeah very relatable. But what is summer without debauchery and regret.lol Nice write bro.

  • wow. the emotion here was strong, both in imagery as well as pure lust. I loved how you used imagery to magnify your feelings. great write and looking forward to reading more.
