When Aphrodite left her marriage bed
To play with Ares, all the Earth did shake,
I fear she did not look too far ahead.
They say that night, all rhyme and reason fled,
Her indiscretion was a big mistake,
When Aphrodite left her marriage bed.
And now the merfolk live in constant dread,
For on that night her husband was awake,
I fear she did not look too far ahead.
Then Triton called for witnesses to shed
Some light upon this gross and sad heartbreak
When Aphrodite left her marriage bed.
With scrutiny each document was read,
Her punishment decided at daybreak,
I fear she did not look too far ahead.
And did she not consider, she was wed
Or sacred vows that she had planned to break?
When Aphrodite left her marriage bed
I fear she did not look too far ahead.
